According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the 20th, the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPC) held a meeting on the same day and agreed to Vu Van Sau’s resignation as a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the President of the State of Vietnam.
VNA reported that, according to the report submitted by the Central Inspection Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and other relevant departments, Vu Van Sau violated the ban on the behavior of members of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, member of the Central Politburo and the Secretary of the Central Secretariat, failing to play an exemplary role. Vu Van Chieu’s shortcomings and faults have had a negative impact on public opinion and undermined the prestige of the Party, the State and his person. Recognizing his responsibility to the Communist Party of Vietnam, the State and the people, Vu Van Chieu submitted an application to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam to resign from various posts and request retirement.
Born in December 1970, Vu Van Chieu was a member of the Political Bureau of the 12th and 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and served as the Standing Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) from 2021 to 2023, and as President of the State of Vietnam from March 2, 2023 onwards.
The meeting also decided to expel Huynh Thi Thuy Lan, former member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and former Secretary of the Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee, from the Party.
