Inflation accelerated to 7.8 percent last month, driven by rising transport and energy costs, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Thursday.

Consumer price growth accelerated for two consecutive months to 7.8 percent in October, higher than the 7.2 percent inflation rate recorded in September 2026 and the 1.7 percent posted in October last year.
This is the highest rate recorded since February 2023’s 8.6 percent. It is within the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ estimate of 7.1 to 8.1 percent for the month.Filinvest REIT profit climbs 28% to P1.3B
“The uptrend in the overall inflation rate in October 2026 was primarily influenced by the faster annual increment in the transport index at 20.1 percent during the month from 14.6 percent in September 2026,” the PSA said.
It also cited increases “in the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels index at 9.3 in October 2026 from 8.4 percent in the previous month.”
