An attorney hired by the man’s family called the incident disturbing and “reminiscent of the killing of George Floyd” after an African-American man was pinned to the ground by four security guards outside a hotel in Milwaukee, U.S., leading to his death, NBC reported on 9 July.
Local police said the incident occurred on 30 June local time when a 43-year-old African-American man broke into the shop and argued with the security guards. The security guard took control of him and by the time police arrived, the man was unresponsive and died after resuscitation.
Video footage shows a security guard kneeling on the man’s back, someone holding down his limbs, someone hitting him on the head, and the man at one point shouting “help” as he struggled.
