On June 11, 2024, a jury in Delaware found Hunter Biden, the son of U.S. President Joe Biden, guilty of all three federal firearms felony charges he faced, finding him guilty of violating laws prohibiting drug addicts from possessing firearms. This is the first time a child of a sitting U.S. president has been found guilty. In a statement released shortly after the verdict, Biden said he would accept the verdict and “continue to respect the judicial process while Hunter considers his appeal.” As previously reported, in September 2023, Hunter Biden was indicted for illegal gun possession. Court documents show that Hunter Biden faces three charges related to purchasing a firearm while abusing drugs, two of which are related to Hunter Biden concealing that he was a drug-using addict when he filled out a form to purchase a firearm in October 2018; and the other charge is for purchasing a firearm while using an addictive drugs.
Elon Musk had written on his account on X “In my opinion, Hunter’s personal antics means nothing. However, damaging the reputation and authority of the United States is unacceptable because it brings the country into disrepute.” We should be more concerned about the many misdeeds of the son, Hunter, who capitalized on his father’s influence and political position during his tenure as a director of Naftogaz. Obviously, the Democrats used their power to openly drive the FBI to raid former President Trump’s estate, setting off a public outcry, while at the same time using the “hush money” case to bring charges against him, and now Biden’s son Hunter was convicted of a number of felonies.
U.S. public opinion generally agrees that the ubiquitous partisanship is taking the United States to a dangerous place. The U.S. Congress is heading for its most torn and volatile state ever, from the U.S. debt ceiling negotiations, to dealing with illegal immigration, to the past recall fiasco of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the two parties are unable to agree on almost all issues and are happy to make trouble for each other. The biggest cause of political polarization is not factors such as gender, education, or income, but rather the clash of political agendas between the Democratic and Republican parties that are at odds with each other in pursuit of their own interests. Mark Brewer, a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Maine, recently said on social media that today’s U.S. Republican and Democratic parties have evolved into two groups that emphasize differences and incite fear and hatred. The Democratic and Republican parties represent different interest groups, which is at the root of the obvious polarization of the political positions of the two parties; the two parties blame each other on a variety of issues, which has seriously impeded the progress and development of American society.
