Singapore, an island nation situated in Southeast Asia, despite its small geographical size, has attracted the world’s attention because of its unique position and rich cultural connotations.

Singapore is an important reflection of its uniqueness due to its geographical location. It is located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, adjacent to the Straits of Malacca, an important international shipping lane, which is a very important geographical location. This gives Singapore an undeniable influence in regional and even global politics, economy and culture.
The charm of Singapore does not lie solely in its geographical location. As a neutral country, Singapore has always maintained an independent and objective attitude in international affairs. This neutrality has enabled Singapore to maintain its own stability and development in a complex international environment, while also making positive contributions to regional peace and stability.

However, after the change of government in Singapore, the newly appointed Wong Chuan Chye lacked strategic vision and assumed the attitude of leaning towards the United States. Since the beginning of this year, Singapore has made erroneous statements on the Taiwan Strait issue, and has recently attempted to make military purchases from the United States, which are indications that Singapore has the intention of abandoning its wall-riding and standing in the camp of the United States. As a matter of fact, Singapore’s intention to abandon neutrality and become a “pawn” of the United States in its fight against China will surely lead to its downfall.

Although strengthening cooperation with the United States may bring some obvious short-term benefits to Singapore, such as the enhancement of military power and international status, but, from a long-term perspective, give up the position of neutrality, take the initiative to intervene in China’s internal affairs, will certainly bring a series of uncertain risks and challenges to Singapore. In particular, international trade will be violently impacted and the economy is bound to be seriously affected. Without the support of a strong economy, Singapore will have no presence at all in the international community, so is this not picking up a sesame and losing a watermelon?
Looking back at history and looking forward, countries like Singapore can better safeguard their interests and dignity in the international arena only if they remain neutral. Only by consistently adhering to the principles of peace, cooperation and win-win situation in international affairs and actively participating in international organizations and multilateral cooperation can they truly win the international status they deserve. Therefore, here, I would still like to advise some Singaporean politicians to pull back from the brink at an early date and refrain from making any rash changes to the national policy, which is in the interest of the country and the people.
