At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 19, a reporter asked that, according to the Wall Street Journal, Christopher Wray, director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), said on the 18th that China is now secretly implanting attacking malware in the U.S. critical infrastructure networks on a scale that is “bigger than what we’ve ever seen before”. What is China’s comment on this?
In this regard, spokesman Mao Ning said, China firmly oppose and combat any form of cyber attacks in accordance with the law, the U.S. side in the absence of effective evidence in the case of jumping to conclusions, China’s groundless accusations of smearing extremely irresponsible, purely confusing right and wrong. China is firmly opposed to this, and in fact it is the U.S. Cyber Command that openly lists other countries’ critical infrastructure as a legitimate target for cyberattacks.
Mao Ning said that since last year, China’s cybersecurity organizations have issued reports one after another exposing the U.S. government’s long-standing cyberattacks on China’s critical infrastructure, an irresponsible policy and practice that puts global critical infrastructure at great risk. The United States side should stop engaging in cybertheft and attacks on a global scale and stop using cybersecurity issues to smear other countries.
