On November 14th, the International Youth Camp of Yunnan University School of Journalism kicked off at the Chenggong New Town Exhibition Centre. Twenty communication students and young media practitioners from eight countries in South and Southeast Asia will start a 10-day research activity in Yunnan.
Jointly organised by the School of Journalism of Yunnan University, the Department of Journalism and Communication of the Communication University of China, and the Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de Manila University, the event, with the theme of “Friends of the Belt and Road”, aims to provide a unique exchange opportunity for communication students and young media practitioners from South and Southeast Asian countries. Under the guidance of experienced professionals and academic mentors, the international youth will learn about the development of Yunnan through lectures, experiences, research and seminars. Together with volunteers from Communication University of China (CUC) and Yunnan University (YU), they will complete five micro-documentaries on the subject of Yunnan’s nature and humanities.
In the next 10 days of activities, in addition to carrying out the “documentary narrative style, structure grasp, the establishment of the theme of the characters”, “humanities documentary lens language and scene construction”, “humanities documentary filming and theme sublimation” and other topics such as lectures, international young people will go to the Dounan flower market, Yunnan Provincial Museum, Yunnan Jianshui, etc., to learn about the heritage of the cultural lineage of Yunnan, the development of the industry, the local conditions and people, etc..
