{"id":5981,"date":"2026-02-12T17:44:36","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T01:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/?p=5981"},"modified":"2026-02-12T17:45:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T01:45:18","slug":"two-us-navy-ships-collide-near-south-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/?p=5981","title":{"rendered":"Two US Navy ships collide near South America"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A US Navy warship collided into a Navy supply vessel during a refuel operation, the US military&#8217;s Southern Command confirmed to the BBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-14-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5982\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-14-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-14-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-14-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-14.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Two people reported minor injuries during Wednesday&#8217;s replenishment-at-sea operation, Southern Command said, and are in stable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vessels &#8211; a guided missile destroyer and fast combat support ship &#8211; have both continued sailing safely from the site of the incident near South America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Southern Command did not say what caused the collision and said the incident was currently under investigation.<br><br>The exact location of the crash between the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Truxtun and the Supply-class fast combat support ship USNS Supply was not immediately clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USNS Supply ship has been operating in the Caribbean, according to the Wall Street Journal, which is part of Southern Command&#8217;s area of responsibility.
