President Trump\u2019s\u00a0<\/a>approval rating dropped to a new low for his second term in the\u00a0latest Quinnipiac University poll<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the five-day survey, which concluded Monday, 37 percent of registered voters say they approve of the president\u2019s handling of his job, compared to 55 percent who disapprove. Another 7 percent say they don\u2019t know.

The president\u2019s net negative 18-point approval rating is his lowest recorded since January 2021. It also marks a net 4-point decline\u00a0since the July survey<\/a>, when his approval was 14 points underwater, with 40 percent approval and 54 percent disapproval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The August poll shows a 21-point shift since Trump took office in January, when 46 percent approved of the president and 43 percent disapproved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest survey recorded both Trump\u2019s lowest approval of his second term and his highest disapproval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s previous low approval came in early June, when 38 percent approved of him and 54 percent disapproved. Trump\u2019s approval rating ticked up to 41 percent in late June and 40 percent in July, while his disapproval rating remained stable at 54 percent in both recent polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the latest poll, 84 percent of Republicans approve of the way Trump is handling his job, while 9 percent disapprove and 7 percent say they don\u2019t know or skip the question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, 90 percent of Republicans approved of Trump, while 8 percent disapproved and 2 percent didn\u2019t know or didn\u2019t answer.

Among Democrats, meanwhile, 98 percent disapprove this month, compared to 95 percent last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among independents, 58 percent disapprove of the president, 31 percent approve, and 11 percent don\u2019t know or don\u2019t say. Last month, 59 percent disapproved, 33 percent approved, and 8 percent didn\u2019t say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The poll was conducted Aug. 21-25 with 1,220 self-identified registered voters and had a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
