{"id":4541,"date":"2024-08-25T19:06:26","date_gmt":"2024-08-26T02:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/?p=4541"},"modified":"2024-08-25T19:06:28","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T02:06:28","slug":"biden-admin-sued-by-16-gop-led-states-over-immigrant-parole-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/?p=4541","title":{"rendered":"Biden Admin Sued by 16 GOP-Led States Over Immigrant Parole Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sixteen Republican-led states filed a lawsuit this week against President\u00a0Joe Biden&#8217;s administration over an\u00a0immigrant\u00a0parole program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"790\" height=\"527\" src=\"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-24.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-24.png 790w, https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-24-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/abovecloud.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-24-768x512.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, Texas, Florida, Idaho, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wyoming filed a lawsuit against the\u00a0Department of Homeland Security, DHS Secretary\u00a0Alejandro Mayorkas\u00a0and other Biden administration officials, challenging a program that will grant hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens parole in place (PIP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This action incentivizes\u00a0illegal immigration\u00a0and will irreparably harm the Plaintiff states,&#8221; the lawsuit says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The policy, which is set to begin on Monday, allows spouses that do not currently have a legal citizenship in the U.S. to apply for &#8220;parole in place&#8221; which allows these individuals to stay in the U.S. and\u00a0follow a path to citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program has sparked significant controversy in an election year dominated by immigration as a key issue. Many\u00a0Republicans\u00a0have criticized the policy, arguing that it amounts to amnesty for individuals who violated the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Under Joe Biden and\u00a0Kamala Harris, the federal government is actively working to turn the United States into a nation without borders and a country without laws. I will not let this happen,&#8221; Texas Attorney General\u00a0Ken Paxton\u00a0said in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paxton continued: &#8220;Biden&#8217;s new parole workaround unilaterally grants the opportunity for citizenship to unvetted aliens whose first act on American soil was to break our laws. This violates the Constitution and actively worsens the illegal immigration disaster that is hurting Texas and our country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, in a post to X, formerly\u00a0Twitter, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody wrote: &#8220;As I have said over and over again, the @JoeBiden-@KamalaHarris administration is illegally using &#8216;parole&#8217; in a systematic way to advance their open-borders agenda.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Today, we challenged yet another illegal parole policy,&#8221; Moody added.<em>Newsweek<\/em>\u00a0reached out to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security via email on Friday for comment.FWD.us, a bipartisan organization focused on immigration and criminal justice reform, defended the program as being legally compliant.
